The participation of each and every one of these committee members offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery worldwide. At the 2010 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO in Boston, we plan to launch an exciting new International Panel Session during the Scientific Program, during which all of you will play a role.
I will also be working with Catherine Lincoln, our committee staff liaison and Senior Manager, International/Humanitarian, to develop a packet of materials to distribute to each committee member with lists of the International Corresponding Societies in the different regions, and information on International Membership, Internet subscriptions, and Annual Meeting registration.             
            
             The Foundation Board of Directors has charged the International Steering Committee as follows: 
The International Steering Committee coordinates the international outreach programs of the Academy and its Foundation to ensure that its goals align with the strategic plan. The steering committee members meet to share and review work plans, annual progress, and action items of the International Otolaryngology, Humanitarian Efforts, and Panamerican Committees.

PROYECTO 09-2010

Estimados amigos :

En funcion del programa de trabajo que propuse a la academia americana de otorrinolaringologia cuando asumi como presidente del comité internacional panamericano , una de las ideas es que pensando en el éxito que obtuve en mi pais con los dos joint meetings que organice con la academia. esto tiene  el beneficio de contar con especialistas americanos o de distintos paises que representen a la academia americana, que figuran en la lista de disertantes de la academia ,y  ademas en el acercamiento entre la academia con los distintos paises que ustedes representan por lo tanto sugiero de hacer distintos joint meetings en sus paises latinoamericanos que lo deseen.

Tambien es una idea  que me gusta hace bastante tiempo y que quisiera concretar , como es  la de hacer disertaciones virtuales , desde alguna clinica de estados unidos , en nombre de la academia americana  conjuntamente con la panamericana ,tambien y a traves del comité que presido , elevarla a la web , y por intermedio de una vasta red distribuirla a todos los paises que llega  la misma y que son desde mexico a mi pais.

Esto es posible gracias a un laboratorio medicinal que esta en todos los paises y que me la ofrece y que fue propuesto a la academia en chicago. por esto cada representante seria el encargado en cada pais de contactar la  red en las direcciones que les enviare y ademas dirigir y coordinar la tarea en su pais.    

En esto hay dos posibilidades. una que llegue a un lugar y que desde ahí se redistribuya, por ejemplo a la Soc. de ORL, facultad de medicina o colegio de medicos de la capital  y de ahí a todo el pais. la segunda es que llegue a todos los hogares  (pc) , que aunque tendra menos claridad de imagen, sera mas comoda ya que la veran desde su casa , sin intermediarios , y si con la coordinacion de los representantes.

Es asi que me gustaría que ustedes sean los representantes de sus paises para estas dos actividades planeadas para estos años. como representantes mencionare a los de la sociedad panamericana , mis amigos de siempre, con la ventaja que tendremos un dialogo mas activo y creo que esto reavivara la sociedad tambien ya que las disertaciones seran grabadas y  figuraran en el boletin de la panamericana , donde persistiran durante un tiempo activamente. esta es una experiencia inedita para la gente de la red como para ustedes o para mi , pero creo es futuro . por este motivo me gustaría poder trabajar junto a ustedes y necesitaria una confirmacion urgente para ser representante o no de su pais.

Otro tema para elevar a la web de la sociedad panamericana son clases de ustedes o de los connacionales, que quieran publicar en la web, para la educación a distancia.

Podemos hacer un intercambio de revistas médicas de or.l., te mando las de argentina y uds la de sus países.

Y a la academia ha puesto un traductor para su pagina web que voy a colocar en la web de la panamericana para leer en cualquier idioma, para consultar los especialistas.

Además mándenme la información de congresos y cursos que realicen en sus países para publicar en la web. dentro del comité que nos reunimos en chicago, se pidio mas colaboración de todos los panamericanistas con la pagina de la panamericana.
